Lois Julia Brown White, 92, owned and operated Chic Boutique Hair Creations for more than 50 years

Lois Julia Brown White, 92, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018. She was born Dec. 18, 1925, in Greensville, South Carolina, to the late Inez Floyd and John “Bud” Brown.

She moved to Norfolk in 1943, where she later wed James A. White Jr. (deceased), a faithful member of the United House of Prayer and a grace soldier. They were happily married for 43 years. Embarking on what later became her entrepreneurial spirit, Lois went on to open her own beauty shop, Chic Boutique Hair Creations, where she spent over 50 years perfecting the crowns of women from all over the Tidewater area. In addition to her beauty shop, Lois opened a high-end ladies dress store, Pierre’s Fashion.

Mrs. White leaves behind to cherish her memories, two sons and two daughters, Anthony (Stephanie) White of Shreveport, Louisiana, Dr. Frances Inez White of Portsmouth, Anita Maria (Paul) Evans of Hampton and Donald White of Hampton; seven grandchildren, Trevor White, Chemere White, Brittany Rochelle White, Christopher White, Tiffany Evans, Brittany Nicole White and Ciera White; five great-grands; second husband; favorite dog, Yukon, also known as, Yudee You; and a host of family and friends.

A viewing will be held from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, at the United House of Prayer for All People, 1811 Ivy Ave., Newport News.
