Exhibits of a forgotten war that occurred a century ago are coming to Williamsburg.
“Over Here: Americans at Home in World War One” will bring the plight of the home front to the Williamsburg Stryker Center until August 13th.
The showcase highlights the struggles of Americans who fought the war at home. The exhibition will spotlight mobilization, patriotic sentiments and the fight against foreign spying, according to a news release.
The exhibit is on loan from the National Archives and will play an integral role in an upcoming visit from the Virginia World War I and World War II Commemoration Commission’s Profiles of Honor Mobile Museum, which is coming to the Williamsburg Library on Aug. 12-13, the release said.
The visit by the Profiles of Honor Mobile Museum will provide perspective on the American stories at the Stryker Center exhibition and the true tales of Virginians fighting both world wars, according to the release.
“Over Here: Americans at Home in World War One” is free for viewing and open to the public during Stryker Center business hours, from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
