Katherine Joyner and Christopher Cutrer are to be married Oct. 14, 2017, at the Oyster Farm at Kings Creek in Cape Charles, Va.
Katherine, 27, works at Virginia Beach 911. She graduated from Radford University in 2011.
Katherine is the daughter of Rebecca Christman of Poquoson, Va and David Joyner of Myrtyle Beach, S.C.
Christopher, also 27, is a TCR2 for Geico. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 2011.
Christopher is the son of Deborah and Douglas Cutrer.
Katherine and Christopher met while they both were working for the City of Virginia Beach — Christopher as a police officer and Katherine as a 911 dispatcher. They hit it off instantly.
At the time, they were working opposite schedules and finding time to be together was difficult. When Katherine got out of work, they would take walks on the beach when Christopher wasn’t on call.
On May 6, 2016, the couple went out for dinner. It was packed and they were unable to get a
seat so, naturally, they took a walk on the beach that they visited often when they first started dating.
After looking over the water, Katherine turned around and Christopher was down on one knee.
“It was truly one of the most special moments of both of our lives,” Katherine said.
