Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Cedar Point Lane Home in James City County

JAMES CITY COUNTY — Fire caused extensive damage to a home in the 4600 block of Cedar Point Lane in James City County Thursday afternoon.

According to officials, units from James City County Fire Department and James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the residential structure fire at 12:20 p.m. Jan. 16.

Units arrived at 12:35 p.m. to find a two-story garage apartment with fire showing from the second floor, the county said. The fire was brought under control by 12:50 p.m. after causing extensive damage to the second-floor living area and roof structure.

The male occupant was awakened by the fire and exited the home through a second-floor window and was transported to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for possible smoke inhalation, according to the county.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office.

York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted.
