Men accused of trying to sell $10,000 of marijuana from Oceanfront apartment

Two men are accused of trying to sell $10,000 of marijuana from an Oceanfront apartment, police say.

Timothy James Rooney, 30, and Donald James Beane, age unavailable, are accused of selling the drugs from an apartment on the 400 block of 22nd Street.

Both men were charged on Nov. 1, 2016 with distribution of marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Beane was also charged with possession of marijuana, while Rooney was charged with possession of cocaine, according to the Virginia Online Case Management System.

The men were arrested after the Virginia Beach Police Department conducted a drug investigation at Rooney’s Oceanfront apartment. A search of the apartment revealed cocaine, a large amount of marijuana, a gun and bank paperwork from Bank of America, Navy Federal Credit Union and Wells Fargo, according to a search warrant filed in Virginia Beach Circuit Court.

During an interview, Rooney told police that Beane dropped off the marijuana at his house on Nov. 1, 2016. Beane told police he bought the drugs online for $10,000 and took them to Rooney’s home.

Beane’s case is scheduled to be heard in Virginia Beach General District Court on Feb. 9. Rooney’s is scheduled for a hearing on Feb. 17.
