Republican Scott Taylor won by large margins Tuesday night, beating out Democrat Shaun Brown.

“What a county we live in,” Taylor said in a victory speech Tuesday. “That I could grab that passing torch and serve these people and this nation, what an honor and a profound responsibility.”

Del. Scott Taylor (R) currently represents the 85th District in the Virginia House of Delegates. He has previously served in the armed forces as a U.S. Navy SEAL. He was first elected in 2013.

Taylor’s opponent Shaun Brown (D) is a businesswoman, community activist and economist. She works at a global export firm.

Taylor will represent Accomack, Northampton and York counties, the City of Williamsburg and parts of James City County. The district also includes all of the city of Virginia Beach and parts of the cities of Hampton, Newport News and Norfolk.

All election results are considered unofficial until a formal results review is completed and all provisional ballots are counted.
