VIRGINIA BEACH – Patrons will find more than drama and musicals this summer at Zeiders American Dream Theater.

The theater on Bank Street in Town Center is hosting a summer series that includes cabaret, improv and drag queen shows. And for the first time, it will  host a comedy night series called “Friday Night Live.”

“There aren’t a lot of theater offerings in the area during summer,” said James Bryan, marketing and patron manager for the theater. “It’s a really fun atmosphere, too.”

The comedy shows begin at 10 p.m. on Fridays, starting July 1, and are $20 a ticket. The shows will feature live sketch, video and improv by the theater’s comedians. Those shows, as well as a musical, cabaret, drag and sketch performances, will run for six weeks.

The entertainers range in age from 18 to 64. The summer series includes the musical “Love, Always,” the patriotic musical revue “Freedom Song,” Friday Night Live, Saturday Night Improv, and the drag show “Queen Mary at the Z.”

Detailed show information, including dates, times and ticket prices can be found here. The space will offer shows every night this summer, except Mondays.
