An annual fundraising event raised $23,000 for therapeutic horseback riding lessons in the community.
Dream Catchers at the Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center held its third Cowboys Uncorked event Nov. 9 at the Williamsburg Winery. The cowboy-themed gala featured 14 local celebrities who were “arrested” and raised money for “bail.”
Barbara Cummings had the highest total with $3,200. In addition to human arrestees, a therapy horse named Tater raised $2,195.
The evening, presented by title sponsor Malvin, Riggins + Company, PC, also included cowboy fare, line dancing, an old-fashioned photo booth and silent auction.
Proceeds support the therapeutic horseback riding lessons Dream Catchers provides to children and adults with special needs. The center gives about 120 each week.
