Members of Olive Branch Christian Church nearly doubled their fundraising goal for Alzheimer’s care, support and research last month.

The group participated in the Oct. 25 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, raising $2,250 of the more than $120,000 total.

The team’s goal was $1,000 for the event, one of more than 600 held by the Alzheimer’s Association across the country.

An anonymous donor pledged $2 for every congregant who wore purple to the church services on the Sunday before the walk. To help reach the goal – and then exceed it – one of the walk coordinators, Keeta Hodson, handed out swatches of purple fabric to those without the color when they entered.
