5th Annual Tucker-Arnold Storytelling Festival and Retreat with Syd Lieberman, Sheila Arnold and Darci Tucker
Syd Lieberman is an internationally acclaimed storyteller, author and award-winning teacher. He is known for many types of stories and is highly sought after for festival storytelling.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, September 19, Mr. Lieberman will present his highly acclaimed Civil War-focused program, “Abraham and Isaac: Sacrifice at Gettysburg.” President Abraham Lincoln called soldiers like Private Isaac Taylor “my boys,” and they called him Father Abraham. But saving the Union required Father Abraham to send tens of thousands of Isaacs to fight and perhaps to die. In July 1863, the Civil War’s bloodiest battle left 40,000 men dead or wounded. The president honored their sacrifice in the Gettysburg Address even as he launched our young nation toward its future. Recommended for ages 10 and up.
Syd’s work has garnered awards from ALA, Parent’s Choice, and Storytelling World. He has taught storytelling at the Kennedy Center and Disney World, and received commissions to write pieces for NASA; the Smithsonian Institution; Historic Philadelphia; and more. He has hosted American Public Radio’s Good Evening, he performs at festivals nationally and internationally, and is a regular presenter at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN.
He will be joined by local tellers Sheila Arnold Jones and Darci Tucker.
