The James City County Rotary recently hosted delegation from Novosibirsk, Russia, as part of its Open World Program.
The program, established by Congress in 1999, brings young professionals from former Soviet Union to U.S. to experience its democratic society and American life. The delegation wanted to observe technology use in higher education and also volunteerism in America.
Williamsburg Landing hosted a program on volunteerism, with presentations from residents and staff, in addition to staff & volunteers from the College of William & Mary.
The presenting guest speakers were: Joe Fisler, President, Christopher Wren Association; Melody Porter, associate director of community engagement, William and Mary; Mary Grech, student, William & Mary; Prof. Stephen Hanson, Vice Provost for International Affairs, Director Reves Center for International Studies; Dirk Walecka, resident, Williamsburg Landing; Ann Symroski, resident, Williamsburg Landing; &Kathy Kammer, senior director of community relations, Williamsburg Landing. The presentation was organized by Dan Malone, member of JCC Rotary Club and resident of Williamsburg Landing.
