Several LPGA golfers took time out from their busy schedules this week to help out families in need in the community this week.

On Wednesday, Stephanie Louden, Isabelle ‘Izzy’ Beisiegel, Jenny Suh, and Jennie Lee went to the Grove Christian Outreach Center to help distribute food to Grove residents during Bread & More Wednesdays.  GCOC shared some thoughts about the day on its Facebook page: “What a beautiful gift of service! Thanks for coming by and lending a hand!”

In 2011, GCOC distributed 414,000 pounds of food though all its food programs, and it served 853 different families (over 2,500 people).

On Tuesday, at least four players including Meredith Duncan, Karlin Beck, Lacey Agnew and Kathleen Ekey, helped build a Habitat for Humanity Home on Watford Lane in James City County. LPGA golfers have helped out on other Habitat homes in years previous.

The home is sponsored by the Fresh Market. The new Habitat ReStore, Habitat’s discount building materials store, is located in the space formerly occupied by The Fresh Market, which moved to a larger space in New Town.

“The Kingsmill Championship does more than bring the greatest LPGA players to this community,” said Tournament Director Katherine Thigpen. “Supporting Habitat for Humanity is a great way for us to extend our support for a worthy cause that takes place away from the golf course and occurs in our community.
