WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary men’s basketball head coach Brian Earl announced the signing of 6-8 forward Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi (Stockholm, Sweden / LaSalle) to the program for the 2025-26 season.
“Tunde adds another experienced player that was a starter at the Division I level,” Earl said. “He plays hard and his size, skill, and shooting ability will make an impact in our style. He is also a difference maker on the defensive end with his athleticism and versatility in guarding multiple positions.”
In two seasons at LaSalle, Fasasi appeared in 66 games with 26 starts and averaged 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in 22.1 minutes. He shot 41% from the field and 35.3% from 3-point range.
As a freshman in 2023-24, the 6-8 forward started the final 18 games of the season and averaged seven points per game in Atlantic 10 play. He earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors in January of 2024 after scoring 19 points to go with six rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots at George Washington.
Fasasi closed his sophomore campaign with the Explorers strong, scoring in double figures in four of the final five games. He tallied 13 points and five rebounds in the regular-season finale win over St. Joseph’s, before posting 12 points and seven rebounds in an A-10 Tournament win over UMass.
Fasasi has competed for the Sweden National Team on a number of levels. In 2022, he has played for Sweden’s U18 National Team during the 2022 FIBA European Championship, averaging 19.4 points per game. Fasasi was named to the FIBA European Tournament all-star team and scored 29 points in semifinals.
Fasasi becomes the fourth Division I transfer and sixth member of the Tribe’s class this offseason. He joins a W&M incoming group that includes forward Kilian Brockhoff (Cuxhaven, Germany/Saint Louis), forward Cade Haskins (Minneapolis, Minn. / Dartmouth), forward Jo’el Emanuel (Suffern, N.Y. / Fairleigh Dickinson), guard Reese Miller (Round Rock, Texas / Blinn Community College), and guard Ethan Connery (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio / Casper College).
In its first season under Earl, the Tribe enjoyed one of the top turnarounds in the country, finishing with a 17-15 record. The 17 wins rank 12th in program history, while the program produced 11 CAA wins for just the fifth time. W&M debuted a new style of play featuring a fast-paced tempo. The Green and Gold ranked among the national leaders in tempo, 3-point shooting, scoring, and assists.
