After trailing by eight points at halftime, Tabb rallied back in the second half to defeat Poquoson 55-50 on the road Thursday.
Poquoson jumped out on Tabb in the first half as the Tigers struggled to slow down the Islanders on offense. By halftime, the Tigers found themselves trailing 26-20.
Coming out of halftime, Tabb went into a full-court press defense that created havoc as Poquoson tried to move the ball up the court. Tabb’s pressure led to turnovers, which allowed the Tigers to take the lead thanks to a 22-6 third quarter advantage.
Poquoson closed the gap in the fourth quarter, coming within one point of Tabb. However, two late fouls by Poquoson sent Tabb to the free throw line. Tabb sank all four free throws and managed to hang on for the win.
Tabb (10-11) will now prepare to host Booker T. Washington on Tuesday during the first round of the Conference 27 tournament.

Jamestown Routs York in Season Finale
Jamestown finished its regular season on a high note, trouncing York 74-56 at home Thursday.
While no one player took over the scoring load for Jamestown, the Eagles scored points from all but two players on the roster.
Jamestown doubled up York in the first quarter by a 20-10 margin before outpacing the Falcons 21-17 in the second quarter. By halftime, Jamestown held a 41-27 lead.
The Eagles continued rolling in the second half, extending their lead by four points over the final two quarters en route to an easy win.
With the win, Jamestown (16-4) will now turn its attention to Wednesday’s Conference 17 home game against either Denbigh or Grafton.
Meanwhile, York (0-21) finishes its regular season still looking for a win. The Falcons will travel to take on Phoebus in the first round of the Conference 27 tournament on Tuesday.

Grafton Ends Regular Season with Loss
Grafton’s regular season ended with a disappointing 52-31 loss at home against Smithfield on Thursday.
Smithfield jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter, outscoring Grafton 20-10 over the first eight minutes of play. That lead grew by three points in the second quarter until the Packers held a 31-18 halftime advantage over the Clippers.
The Clippers, a normally offensively effective team, struggled to find open looks against Smithfield’s defense, especially in the second half. The Clippers scored 13 points in the second half, while Smithfield logged 21 points to pull away for the win.
Grafton (17-4) will prepare for a Tuesday home game against Denbigh in the first round of the Conference 17 tournament.

Timmy Woollum’s 18 points led Lafayette to an 82-63 road win against New Kent on Thursday.
The Rams jumped out to a 22-16 lead in the first quarter, which gave way to a 27-13 second quarter that favored Lafayette. By halftime, Lafayette held a commanding 49-29 lead over the Trojans.
New Kent played nearly even with Lafayette in the second half, but was unable to significantly close the gap between the two teams before the final buzzer sounded.
Lafayette (10-9) will likely travel to take on Heritage during Tuesday’s Conference 17 tournament.

HRA Knocks Off Walsingham in Big Road Win
Bryan Hart scored 34 points to help lead Hampton Roads Academy to a statement 74-63 road win against Walsingham Academy on Thursday.
Behind Hart, who scored 20 first-half points, the Navigators were able to take an early lead against the Trojans that they never relinquished.
Hampton Roads Academy took an 18-15 lead over Walsingham in the first quarter before growing their halftime advantage to 38-30.
The lead kept growing to HRA in the second half as Anthony Picott added 13 of his 21 points over the final two quarters of play.
HRA added to its lead by four points in the third quarter before using 15 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to keep Walsingham at bay.
With the win, HRA (15-6) extends its win streak to 11 games. The Navigators will host Greenbrier Chrsitian Academy on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Walsingham (17-6) has now lost two of its last three games and will try to rebound Tuesday on the road against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.

Bruton’s boys basketball team finished its regular season with a 78-47 win at home against Warhill on Thursday.
Warhill had a solid first quarter, during which the Lions outscored the Panthers 14-11.
However, Bruton dominated the second quarter by posting 35 points compared to Warhill’s 15. The outburst gave Bruton a 46-29 halftime lead over Warhill.
The Panthers continued rolling in the third quarter, outpacing Warhill 24-10 to put the game well out of reach. A calm fourth quarter ensured Bruton walked away with a win.
Bruton (14-5) will be the top seed in the Conference 33 tournament, while Warhill (6-15) awaits its opponent in the Conference 25 tournament.
