Warhill continued its win streak, as the Lions defeated Lafayette 25-22, 26-24, 25-23 on the road Wednesday evening.

The win for Warhill also avenged a season-opening loss to Lafayette that lasted five sets.

Lafayette, which was coming off a disappointing straight-set loss to New Kent on Tuesday, showed more fight against the Lions.

Jewel Walters played a standout defensive match, recording 32 digs for Warhill. Walters’ defense was key for the Lions hanging on for a victory during three close sets.

Warhill’s Cori Clifton nearly recorded a triple-double with 14 assists, 12 digs and seven kills, while Nicole Mulligan added 12 kills.

For Lafayette, Abby Oren notched a double-double with 17 digs and a match-high 14 kills. Kelly Carroll had eight kills and seven digs, while Abby Goetsch chipped in 22 assists.

The straight-set win pushes Warhill (7-3) to five consecutive wins after starting the season 2-3. The Lions, who appear to have hit their stride this season, will look to keep the winning streak alive on the road against York on Monday.

Meanwhile, Lafayette (6-5) is looking to get back to its winning ways after losing back-to-back matches. The Rams will host Denbigh on Friday.
