The inaugural Williamsburg Fall Classic will have to wait a while longer before the first pitch can be thrown.
The College of William & Mary’s club baseball team – the hosts of the tournament – announced Wednesday the tournament is being postponed because of Hurricane Joaquin, which is expected to affect Williamsburg this weekend.
The tournament is going to serve as a fundraiser for the team and has partnered with local businesses and government for funding.
The team has no make-up date scheduled, but does intend on moving forward with the tournament once the weather permits.
Sam Holliday, the business manager for the team, said a new date will be announced once the team has coordinated a make-up date with the participating teams.
