Two weeks ago, Jamestown’s girls outlasted Tabb 4-3 in one of the more entertaining soccer games of the season.
The Tigers clearly made the appropriate adjustments to avenge that loss to their fierce Bay Rivers District rivals by defeating the Eagles 2-1 in Friday’s 4A Conference 19 championship game.
Tabb scored first on a goal from Erin Fenton set up by Lakaiah Robinson, but Jamestown would later respond to make it a 1-1 game at the half.
The only goal of the final 40 minutes was scored by Tabb’s standout midfielder Leah Tyson, who headed in a cross from Katie Herold for what proved to be the game-winner.
As a result, the Tigers will earn a home game in the first round of next week’s 4A South Region tournament while Jamestown will travel to play its opening-round opponent.
