WILLIAMSBURG — The Military Affairs Committee of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce coordinated its annual Home for the Holidays campaign, awarding $300 travel stipends to a record 40 service members to return home for the holidays.
The Home for the Holidays campaign is a fundraiser for holiday travel stipends for service members at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown and U.S. Naval Weapons Station Yorktown.
According to the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce, the generosity of local individuals and businesses made possible the record number of stipends given to service members to travel home to see family. The committee awarded 17 more stipends than in 2021.
Jim Icenhour of the James City County Board of Supervisors leads the Committee.
Stipends were also awarded in an unphotographed ceremony to service members from the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment at the Naval Weapons Station.
The Chamber extended its gratitude to its sponsors for their contributions. For a full list of sponsors, visit the Chamber’s official page on the topic.
