YORKTOWN — The community is invited to join the Watermen’s Museum, 309 Water St., for its grand reopening celebration on Friday, April 1.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can visit the the museum’s re-stocked gift shop with over 4,000 items and tour its new exhibits.
The Maritime Trades and Energy Exhibits, which are sponsored by a grant from Dominion Energy, include rope making and chandlery shop pottery, wood working and boat building shop.
The Watermen’s Museum has other upcoming events include the Tartan and Tie-Dye Celebration Fundraiser to benefit American Cancer Society on Saturday, April 9 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature music, St. George Brewery and catering from Chef K Cooking. Guests are asked to give a $10 donation at the door.
The museum’s Annual Chili Cook Off will take place on Saturday, April 16. Chili will be served from noon to 3 p.m., $10 per person. Guests can taste chili made by each competing team and cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award.
Also on April 16 is the Easter Vigil on the Beach from dusk until 9 p.m. The event is free to the public.
Additionally, the Yorktown Pirate Invasion will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 23-24. The event at the museum will include re-enactors, cannon firings, music, Gloucester Brewing Company, Black Pearl Food Truck, Polar Ice Truck and
other vendors.
