WILLIAMSBURG — The College of William & Mary’s (W&M) Ewell Concert Series continues this Friday with a piano duo concert.
The Ewell Concert series is presenting Michelle Huang and Magdalena Adamek on March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Ewell Recital Hall.
Huang and Adamek first met each other at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) while serving on the Piano Faculty. Since 2019, they have collaborated and performed together.
The duo performs four-hand and two-piano pieces composed by various artists including Maria Szymanowska, Frederic Chopin, Johannes Brahms, Maurice Ravel, and Richard Bennett.
Both members of the piano duo have an abundance of experience both internationally and domestically as they have been solo performers, teachers, and have presented lectures at various venues across the country. In 2020 they developed a series of piano technique classes as well as an online summer program for pre-college pianists.
Huang and Magdalena have collectively performed and lectured all over the world. Huang has traveled throughout the U.S. as well as in the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, and Taiwan. Magdalena has traveled in Poland, Germany, Austria, Lithuania, France, China, the USA, and Canada.
Magdalena is a full-time faculty in the Department of Music at VCU. She teaches piano ensemble, keyboard skills, and chamber music. For the past four years, Magdalena has served on the Faculty at the Global Summer Institute of Music both the instructor and the pianist-collaborator.
Huang recently was on the piano faculty at VCU, she also maintains a private studio where she works with pre-college students. She is an active member of the Richmond Music Teachers Association (RMTA) and Virginia Music Teachers Association (VMTA). She has presented workshops on musician’s wellness, the art of practicing, and music entrepreneurship.
The concert is open to the public and admission is free. Masks will be required while indoors.
