YORKTOWN — The Military Affairs Committee of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce (GWCC) through its Home for the Holidays fundraising campaign provided stipends for 23 service members to travel home this holiday season.

This year, the fundraising campaign provided 23 service members stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown and the U.S. Naval Weapons Station Yorktown a stipend of $300 each to help cover the costs to travel during for the holidays.

Amanda Terrell, the Committee’s staff liaison, noted that through the generosity of individuals and businesses, the Home for the Holidays campaign was able to provide these stipends to every service member who applied in 2021. This allowed for six more stipends to be awarded than in 2020.
