Cheryl A. Whitaker, a beacon of love and strength, was born on August 28, 1959, in Hampton, Virginia, and she peacefully passed away in her hometown on August 17, 2026, at the age of 66.
Cheryl’s life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her career began as a Certified Nurse Assistant and evolved into roles as a Phlebotomist and Dialysis Technician after earning her associate degree from Sentara College. Her compassionate nature and commitment to excellence were evident in every task she undertook.
A nurturer by heart and known affectionately as “the quiet storm,” Cheryl was a woman of strong will and determination. Her disciplined approach to life was balanced by her deep love for her family and the serenity she found in her tranquil moments. Whether tending to her garden or creating culinary delights in the kitchen, Cheryl infused everything she did with passion and care.
She was renowned for her impeccable style and the way she maintained her household with grace and precision. Cheryl had a way of communicating volumes with just a look, and her family knew that when she gave a certain look, she meant business. Her eyes spoke with a wisdom beyond words, guiding and nurturing those around her.
Cheryl shared a profound love with her late husband, Robbin Whitaker, her partner of 40 years. Together, they were known as “Two Peas in a Pod,” united in love and life until his passing just five days before hers, on August 12, 2026. Cheryl was also preceded in death by her parents, Reinaldo and Shirley Crawford, and her brothers, Reinaldo V. Crawford, Christopher Crawford, and Charles Crawford.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her beloved children: Giuseppe Woodard (LaTanya), Larry Robinson, and Justin Whitaker (Latitia). Her grandchildren; Hunter, Zoe, Myriam, Myko, Jah’mya, Nyla, Breanna, Viviana, Aryanna, and Rhyan were the light of her life, as were her two precious great-grandchildren. Cheryl’s cherished siblings, Kim Crawford, Kevin Crawford, Frenchy Crawford, and Angelo Crawford (Beth Thompson), along with a host of adored nieces, nephews, and dear friends, will carry forward her memory and spirit.
