Jessica Elizabeth Burney, age 42, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026. Born on August 26, 1983, in Norfolk, Virginia, she was a beacon of light and inspiration to all who knew her.
Jessica graduated from Hickory High School and further pursued her education at Tidewater Community College. Her greatest joy and passion in life was being a devoted stay-at-home mom, nurturing her family with love and dedication. Her unwavering commitment to her family was matched only by her diverse interests and passions.
A true lover of nature, Jessica found beauty and solace in the world around her. She was an avid photographer, capturing the essence of life through her lens, and her artistic spirit shone brightly in her paintings. Her fascination with rocks and crystals, along with her adept knowledge of herbology, added depth and wonder to her life. Ever compassionate, she delighted in feeding the squirrels that visited her garden, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures.
Jessica is survived by her loving husband, Bryan Burney, their cherished daughters, Mandy and Chloe Burney, and big brother, Johnathan “Bubba” Lowe. She leaves behind her beloved parents, Jane and John Lowe, who treasured her dearly.
Though her physical presence may be gone, her spirit and the love she shared continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A funeral service celebrating Jessica’s life will take place on Monday, August 24, 2026, starting at 1:11 pm also at Altmeyer Funeral Home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, located at 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
Jessica’s legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts. She has touched many lives, leaving an enduring mark on this world.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you feed a squirrel, snap a photo of the sunset, or simply take a moment to enjoy the natural beauty around you—just as Jessica would have wanted.
