Cynthia “Cindy” O’Connor Warren, born June 1, 1958, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 68.
Cindy’s love of the beach brought her to Virginia Beach not long after graduating from West Virginia University. There was nothing better than a walk on the sand or listening to the sounds of the ocean for Cindy. Cindy worked her way up to the Restaurant Manager for the beloved VB staple, the Jewish Mother.
Following her hospitality career, she made a name for herself in the world of Human Resources growing to director roles for Montgomery Ward and CMA CGM. Her greatest professional accomplishment was reaching Vice President of Human Resources for Hechinger/ HQ Warehouse and Dollar Tree Inc. In her retirement, Cindy returned to the hospitality industry and enjoyed working at the front desk of the Hyatt Place Town Center.
Outside of her professional accolades, Cindy’s greatest joy came from watching her two kids grow into the adults they are today and starting their own families. Cindy regularly enjoyed time with her beloved grandchildren and treasured each and every photo and video. She was truly enjoying donning the new title of “Mee-maw” with the birth of James and TJ over the last 3 years.
To know Cindy was to know a creative person who also found a way to laugh at life’s challenges. She regularly came up with the most creative costumes, with Halloween being her favorite holiday. She never missed a chance to dress up or decorate the house for even the smallest event. She found joy in celebrating the big and small things.
Cindy was preceded in death by her long-time partner and best friend, Delbert “Duke.” She was also preceded in death by her father, John O’Connor, and mother, Elizabeth O’Connor. Cindy’s memory will be cherished by her surviving family: daughter Caity Deets and her husband and son, Michael and TJ; son Ryan Warren and his wife and kids, Amanda, Eleanor, Charlotte, and James; siblings Roxanne, John, and Stephen.
