After a sudden and brief illness, David J. Mason passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 6 surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded into heaven by his parents, Julius and Marion Mason, and his siblings Richard (Dick), Howard, Ruth, Marion, Kenneth (Kenny,) Juliet and James. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret, and his children Michael, Deborah (Brian), and Juliet, grandchildren Gianna (David) and Katheryn, and great granddaughter Nina. Also, his sister-in-law Maureen Enston and many nieces and nephews throughout the U.S. and UK.
Born in Woodhull, NY, David dedicated 32 years of service to the United States Air Force. Following his military career, he continued to serve his community as a math teacher at Godwin Middle School in Woodbridge, VA. David lived his life with four great loves: God, his family, the Air Force, and Golf.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14 (1pm ET) at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with a reception immediately after in the Grove. Followed by the internment of his ashes on Friday, September 18 (12:30pm ET) at the National Memorial Cemetery (Quantico, VA).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church or your local hospice.
