Alexander “Alex” Birkbeck passed away on July 9, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in Wallasey, England, in December 1937, Alex lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community.

For many years, Alex served as a Construction Superintendent with Cochran Construction in Newport News, Virginia. Driven by a lifelong desire to learn and stay meaningfully connected, Alex took great care to remain actively involved in the lives of those he loved. He frequently researched the companies his family worked for and the communities where they lived so he could share informed, relevant conversations about their world. Whenever loved ones were on the move, Alex would track their progress using a variety of online tools, eagerly following along on their journeys to stay close to them no matter the distance.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Elizabeth Birkbeck; his beloved wife, Winnie; and his son, David.
