Willie Lorenzo Washington, age 79, of Norfolk, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on July 24, 2026. Born on March 16, 1947, in Norfolk, Willie lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
For more than 33 years, he faithfully served the Public Work, Bridges and Streets division for the City of Norfolk, Virginia, a profession he took great pride in until his retirement in May 2009. Known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and dependable nature, Willie earned the respect and friendship of many throughout his career and community.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Washington and Lillian Washington; his brothers, Claude Washington, Ernest Washington, and Hubert Lee Washington; and his sisters, Beatrice Spencer and Sheron Washington. Though their loss was deeply felt, Willie carried their memories in his heart throughout his life. He was a beloved brother whose kindness, wisdom, and caring presence brought comfort and joy to those who really knew and loved him.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sisters: Claudette Washington, of Newport News, VA; Josephine Elazier of Williamsburg, VA; Beulah Brooks of Norfolk, VA; and Lillian Fletcher of Lanham, MD along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
His legacy of perseverance, family devotion, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Willie will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered forever
