James Edward Johnson, 81, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on July 28, 2026. Born on September 20, 1944, in West Virginia, James lived a quiet life rooted in resilience and perseverance.
James was a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces, having honorably served his country. His service reflected his dedication and commitment, qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mollie Elizabeth Johnson, and was the son of Will R. Johnson and Brenda Sue Brooks. Though much of his life’s story was known best by those closest to him, James will be remembered with respect and appreciation by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his brother, Ralph Johnson, of Cleveland, Ohio; his sisters, Brenda Brown and Paulette Johnson, as well as a host of family members and friends who are left to cherish his memory.
In accordance with his wishes, James will be cremated and laid to rest with military honors at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
