Elderedge Hughgene Hunsecker, Jr. (Amory Funeral Home)

Elderedge Hughgene Hunsecker Jr., affectionately known as Gene, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born on April 15, 1954, in Hampton, Virginia, and lived a life devoted to his family, hard work, and the outdoors.

Gene shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Cindy, building a loving home and raising a family together. Cindy preceded him in death, along with his father, Elderedge Hughgene Hunsecker Sr.; his mother, Constance Webb Hunsecker; and his sister, Gail Richardson.

Gene is survived by his son, Jason Hunsecker and his wife, Sandy, of Ronceverte, West Virginia; his daughter, Kelly Bolton and her husband, David, of Lovettsville, Virginia; and his three beloved grandchildren, Haven, Calvin, and Thomas, who were the pride and joy of both Gene and Cindy. Together, they found their greatest happiness in raising their family and watching it grow.

Gene retired from Gloucester County Public Schools, where he served as a teacher and coach. He will be remembered most for his kind heart, his love of fishing and hunting, and the time he spent with family and friends. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures and leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Gene will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Blood Cancer United in continued remembrance of his beloved wife, Cindy, or to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in honor of Gene’s lifelong love of the outdoors.
