Thelma Benford Crump was born on September 22, 1927, to the late Zealot and Florence Benford in Charles City County, Virginia. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, God wrapped His arms around her and led her to the “Pearly Gates of Heaven.”
Thelma Crump accepted Christ at an early age and continued to serve the Lord through ushering, missionary and also served on the refreshment committee. She served on each board for an estimated 20 years.
Growing up, Thelma had one sibling, her younger brother, Ernest Benford. She married her true love, Cecil, on October 15, 1949. They then had two daughters, Portia and Sylvia. Throughout it all Thelma learned a lot of life lessons that she then passed on to her daughters and grandchildren. She loved everyone, especially family, as you could tell on Sundays after church service by the cars in her driveway waiting to eat the fresh baked hot rolls. She loved cooking for the family. Cecil would grow food in their garden, and she would cook it for the family on Sundays.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Crump, brother Ernest Benford, nephew Benjamin Benford, mother and father, Zealot and Florence Benford.
Thelma is survived by daughters Portia Marrow (Silas) and Sylvia Williams (Clarence); Grandsons Andrew Marrow (Shunkeua) and Christopher Williams (Lauren); Great Grandchildren Cordero Marrow, Juaquin Marrow, Tevian Adams and London Williams; Great Great Grandchild Celani Marrow and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace we love you, but God loved you best.
