Jerry McCardle, 87, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026.
Born on July 7, 1939, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Jerry was the son of the late Paul and Lavelle McCardle and was raised in New Albany, Mississippi. A lifelong football enthusiast, he excelled as a middle linebacker, playing for both the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and Memphis State University. His passion for teamwork, perseverance, and competition remained with him throughout his life.
Jerry began his professional career by owning and operating a successful trucking company in Mississippi before relocating to Williamsburg in the early 1970s. There, he established himself as a respected home contractor, building numerous homes throughout the Williamsburg area. He later enjoyed a distinguished career in real estate, holding his real estate license for more than four decades. Known for his honesty, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others, Jerry helped countless families find a place to call home and earned the trust and respect of clients and colleagues alike.
Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam; his brother, Larry McCardle and wife, Emily; his son, Jeff McCardle (Jeana); his stepsons, Richard Bruce (Kara) and Steve Bruce (Kami); his grandsons, Taylor McCardle (Liz), Grayson McCardle, Riley Bruce, and Henry Bruce; his granddaughter, Emily Bruce; his great-granddaughters, Rylin and Teagan; and his nephews, Lance McCardle and Hunter McCardle, along with their families.
Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the lasting impact he made through the homes he built, the friendships he cultivated, and the lives he touched. His legacy of hard work, integrity, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
