Leland Melvin Waltrip, Sr. passed away at home on July 14, 2026, after a long battle with mixed Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ervin Engle and Mary Estelle Haynes Waltrip.
He was born on June 27, 1952, in Newport News, Virginia. He leaves behind a wife and 2 sons, 2 daughters in law and 1 grandson and a brother.
He served his country from 1972-1978, during the Vietnam War. He was in the Army Reserves. His service included U.S. Infantry 82nd Airborne Division and later Transportation Division.
He enjoyed building and worked in the Construction industry throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. In retirement he loved spending time with his only grandson.
He will forever be missed.
