Marie Kelly (née Schertle), age 96, of Newport News, Virginia, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born in 1930 in Baltimore, Md. She was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Anna H. Schertle. She graduated from Mount St. Agnes High School in Baltimore, Md in 1948.
Marie was a kind-hearted woman with a deep connection to her family and a passion for interior design. Her passion for interior design began when she was only 17 years old. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was defined by her love for her family. She was known for being the ultimate homemaker. Her compassion, quick wit, love for her family, and her sense of style defined her. Marie’s warmth and kindness brought comfort to everyone.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Edgar Kelly; her children, Shane Kelly (Debbie) of Jacksonville, Fl. and Missie Fisher (Jeff) of Toano, Va.; her cherished grandchildren, Taylor Fisher, Kelly Fisher, and Rhiannon Kelly.
