Elmer M. Andrade, 60, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, following a courageous battle with Stage IV colon cancer.
Born on June 7, 1966, in Polo, New Washington, Aklan, Philippines, Elmer was the beloved son of Ernesto and Nenita Masinda Andrade.
On April 28, 2001, Elmer married the love of his life, Marlita Andrade, at Binondo Church in Manila, Philippines. Together they shared 25 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Nenita Andrade.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Marlita Andrade; his daughter, Erika Andrade; his son, Ivan Andrade; his sisters, Lily A. Nemis, Arlyn A. Cua, and Ernet A. Namisa; his brother, Sany Andrade; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
Elmer worked as a Plate Mounter for Fortis Solutions Group and previously worked for AGI Corporation. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to providing for his family.
A faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, Elmer found strength in his faith and valued the friendships he built within his church community.
Throughout his life, Elmer called many places home. He was raised in Polo, New Washington, Aklan, Philippines, where he lived from 1966 to 1999. He later resided in Manila, Philippines, from 1999 until 2017 before making Virginia Beach, Virginia, his home, where he lived from 2017 until his passing.
Elmer enjoyed watching basketball and soccer and loved spending time with his family. Among his proudest accomplishments were seeing his son join the United States Air Force and celebrating his daughter’s graduation with a degree in Computer Science. These milestones brought him immense pride and joy.
Those who knew Elmer will remember him most for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to help others. He had a caring heart and was always ready to support his family and friends. His legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Elmer’s brother-in-law, Danilo, and his wife, Connie Pacomio, as well as special friends Elvira, Sheena, and Pamela for their love, support, and kindness throughout Elmer’s illness and during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Elmer’s beloved home country of the Philippines, where family and friends will gather to honor his life and cherish the memories he leaves behind.
