Lawrence Ray Waltrip passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Virginia at the age of 70. Born on October 16, 1955, in Williamsburg, he spent his life dedicated to his family and career.
Lawrence was the proud owner of Signature Mulch Inc., where he worked diligently over the years. His commitment to his business was matched only by his love for his family and the many relationships he cherished throughout his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Zack, Melissa, and Michael Metcalf, whom he shared with Tricia Waltrip, as well as his bonus children, William and Bella Marakos, from his time with Samantha Marakos. He is also survived by his former wife, Dolores Waltrip. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Kristen Waltrip, Ryan Waltrip, and Liam Marakos, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Lawrence shared a special bond with his life partner, Ann LeCompte, whose love, companionship, and unwavering support brought him great happiness in his later years.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Fay P. LeCompte, and his mother, Jean E. Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Monday, July 13th at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to gather in remembrance of a man whose kindness, generosity, and warm heart touched the lives of so many. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
