Ronald Spoerl, 84, of New Kent

Ronald Spoerl, age 84 formerly of Bowling Green Ohio, passed peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 9, 1942, in Perrysburg, Ohio, he was the son of Clarence and Virginia Spoerl. Ron spent his life creating a legacy centered around farming and served as Webster Township Trustee for 25 years.

He graduated from Eastwood High School in 1960 and then honorably served in the military for 3 years. Ron married his beloved wife Carolyn in 1971, and together they raised 2 children, Rachel and Heath. He was an active member of Farm Bureau, the Cattleman’s Association and the American Legion. He enjoyed snowmobile racing, deer hunting, and the occasional hunting trips to Montana with his son. Ron especially enjoyed the fellowship of the farming community and cherished the many stories, wisdom and laughter shared with friends over the years.

During the last ten years of his life, Ron made his home in New Kent, Virginia. He embraced this new hometown, enjoying opportunities to meet new people, make lasting friendships, and learn about the area’s rich history. He treasured his time with his granddaughters and was delighted to watch them grow.

He is preceded in death by, his parents and siblings Caroline, Cynthia and Rennie.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn and 2 children, Rachel Merkley (Edward) and Heath (Ronda); his adored granddaughters, Sydney, Grayson and Emeri. Nieces; Nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

A private graveside service will be held in Ohio at a later date.
