William Franklin Berry, 87, better known as “Pee Wee” to all his friends and family, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Sentara Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia. He had been diagnosed with cancer and had undergone one treatment before passing away.
Pee Wee was a native of West Point, Virginia and lived on 7th street before moving to the port Richmond area with his wife of 65 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He coached Little League Football and helped coach the girl’s Little League Softball team in West Point. He loved sports, playing football, basketball and baseball at West Point High School. He was an avid coin collector for 60 plus years and loved to take care of his lawn.
Pee Wee passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife, Barbara. He served in the National Guard and was employed at The Chesapeake Corporation for 33 years, before retiring in 1998 from Smurfit-Stone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Stella Berry; his brothers, James, Thomas and John Berry; and sisters, Rose Wilson and Betty Seckora.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara and two children, William (Billy), (Sandra), and Deborah Berry; his grandchildren, Chris, (Katie), Brandon, (Ashley), and Marisa Beaubien; and great grandchildren, Hadley, Logan, Turner, and Abigal.
He was blessed with many wonderful friends with whom he shared countless memories, vacations, laughter, and more than a few memorable escapades over the years. The friendships he cherished brought him great joy and companionship. Among those special friends were (Winky Dink) Gene Foster, Leon Carter, Joe Staniuf, Lacy Norman, Red Yarrington, Freddie Hodges and many others.
