Elizabeth Adele Williams, 72, passed away on June 8, 2026, in Virginia Beach. Born on August 13, 1953, in West Virginia, Elizabeth was the daughter of Herbert McCoy and Audrey Carter McCoy.
Raised in a family rooted in faith and hard work, Elizabeth carried with her the values she learned from her parents throughout her life. Her father worked as a coal miner, and her mother served as a preacher, instilling in her a deep sense of compassion, dedication, and service to others.
After graduating from high school, Elizabeth devoted her life to caring for children. She spent 20 years at Playhouse Daycare on Lynnhaven Road, where she became a beloved presence to countless families. She later continued her calling at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, serving for another 20 years as Assistant Director of the Childcare Program. Throughout her four decades of work in early childhood education, Elizabeth touched the lives of generations of children with her patience, kindness, and nurturing spirit.
Elizabeth truly loved the work she did and considered it a privilege to spend her days helping children learn, grow, and thrive. She was known for her strong work ethic, unwavering dedication, and willingness to lend a hand wherever she was needed. Her coworkers valued her not only for her reliability and professionalism but also for her kindness, warmth, and friendship. Well loved by those who worked alongside her, Elizabeth brought joy to every room she entered. She embraced life with enthusiasm, finding happiness in everyday moments and sharing that happiness freely with others. Her positive spirit and genuine love for people will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and gentle nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her greatest joy came from caring for others and watching children grow and flourish under her guidance.
