For 48 years, Katie worked at Piccadilly, where she was recognized with numerous awards, reflecting her commitment and outstanding service. Her long tenure there was not just a testament to her loyalty but also to her remarkable ability to connect with people and bring warmth into every interaction.
Katie’s interests painted a vivid picture of her vibrant personality. She was an avid basketball fan, with a particular fondness for the Los Angeles Lakers. Additionally, she found joy in watching cowboy western movies, appreciating the stories and characters that echoed the values of a bygone era.
Her legacy is lovingly carried forward by her daughter, Jennifer Jones; nephews, Michael Stewart (Elizabeth Reed) and Troy Jones (Greta); niece, Anita Green (Derak); granddaughter, DeNay Pickens; and grandson, Demetrius Pickens. Each of them holds dear the memories and impact she had on their lives.
A graveside service to honor Katie’s life will be held on May 9, 2026, at Roosevelt Memorial Park, located at 1101 Campostella Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23320. The service will commence at 12:00 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, Chesapeake Chapel, located at 929 Battlefield Blvd. S., Chesapeake, VA 23322.
