With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of June Yvonne Clendening, who passed away at the age of 92 on March 25, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born on April 27, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, June lived a life defined by love, dedication, and quiet warmth.
June was a remarkable woman whose career as an administrative assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives reflected her professionalism, diligence, and deep sense of responsibility. As a federal employee, she served her country with integrity and grace, earning the respect of those around her.
Outside of her work, June found great joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She had a passion for gardening, lovingly tending to flowers, vegetables, and plants. Her garden stood as a reflection of her patience and nurturing spirit—a place of beauty, care, and peace.
June also had a gift in the kitchen. She was a talented baker, known for her delicious cakes, cookies, and pastries that brought comfort and joy to family and friends. With a collection of more than 200 cookbooks, she delighted in trying new recipes and especially cherished preparing holiday meals alongside her beloved daughters, Valerie Jamieson and Nancy Ayers.
A devoted member of Courthouse Methodist Church, June’s faith guided her throughout her life. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She embraced her roles as a mother and grandmother with boundless love, bringing comfort, laughter, and unwavering support to those she held dear. She also shared a special bond with her cherished cat, Blackie.
June was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, whose memories she carried with her always. She leaves behind her loving daughters, treasured friends, and all who were fortunate enough to experience her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
As we remember June Yvonne Clendening, we are reminded of a life beautifully lived, one that will continue to bloom in the gardens she tended and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
