Jeffrey P. Pilley, born on July 16, 1962, in Onslow, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in Lanexa, Virginia, at the age of 63.
Jeffrey was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He spent his career as a dedicated baker for Harris Teeter, where he brought joy to many through his craft. His passions extended beyond his work; he was an avid reader with a profound love for college sports. A lifelong fan of the NC Tarheels and the NFL Raiders, Jeffrey’s enthusiasm for his teams was matched only by his commitment to community sports. For over 20 years, he was a proud member of the chain gang for Bruton Football, where his presence was a staple on the sidelines.
His commitment to family was unparalleled. As a band dad for the Bruton High Band, Jeffrey took immense pride in supporting his children and their endeavors. His heart swelled with pride for his sons and daughter-in-laws, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A man of faith, Jeffrey was a member of Christ Community Church, where he found solace and strength. His time with the Marines also shaped him into the person he became, instilling values of honor and service that he carried throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Pilley; mother, Sara Lee Pilley; brother, Brent Burns; niece, Anita Buchanan; father-in-law, Roy Bigelow; and mother-in-law, Peggy Bigelow.
Jeffrey is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri Pilley; his sons, Trevor Pilley (Megan) and Garrett Pilley (Bridget); his daughter, Carrie Ann Pilley; his brother, Tim Pilley (Barbara); and many loving nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
A gathering to celebrate Jeffrey’s life will take place at 10:30 AM on March 27th, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM, both held at Christ Community Church, 9001 Richmond Rd, Toano, VA 23168.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Christ Community Church or the Proclaiming Grace Organization, Proclaiming Grace Outreach P.O. Box 224 Barhamsville, VA 23011, in honor of Jeffrey’s memory and his enduring legacy of faith and service.
