Gregory “Greg” L. Wilson, born October 7, 1950, passed away on February 9, 2026, after a brief and painful battle with lung cancer which had metastasized to his bones (spin and hip) and lymph nodes.
Greg grew up in a few different foster homes after his 8th birthday. Never really feeling like he “belonged” he wondered from job to job but mostly found himself in the farming industry and was also an amazing handy man. When he met and married the love his life, Karen, he finally settled down and found his true family with her and her brothers and sisters.
After a serious accident on the farm and damaging his back, he was put into early retirement through disability. He became the caregiver for his wife who suffered from diabetes. They raised their only daughter, Zoe, and welcomed a grandson, Alex, into the world.
Shortly after Karen’s passing in 2012, Greg moved to the United States to help take care of his brother-in-law, Eric, who passed away in December 2022 and then he became the main caregiver for his sister-in-law, Shirley, along-side her daughter, Zena. Greg had a caring heart and was always willing to help. He had a large group of friends who he would help with small household repairs, and coordinated a few moves.
His love of animals was huge – from the pigs and chickens he used to take care of, to the dogs he helped raise, breed and show with Shirley. Greg leaves behind his daughter, Zoe (Colin), grandson, Alex, sister-in-law Shirley, niece, Zena (Danny), brother-in-law Wayne (Donna), brother-in-law Derek (Linda), nieces Julia, Abigail, Tiffany and Heather, nephew Johnathan, many many loyal friends and his two dogs, Yazmine and Spot.
A service to celebrate his amazing life will be held on Wednesday, March 4th at 12pm at Bucktrout of Williamsburg, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Greg Wilson memorial fund here.
