Gloria Jean Wyman, born December 16, 1959, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her hometown on March 30, 2025, at the age of 65.
Gloria lived her life with grace, strength, and a quiet kind of kindness that touched everyone who knew her. She had a way of making people feel seen, and her presence brought comfort and warmth to family and friends alike. She faced life’s ups and downs with courage, and she inspired those around her to do the same.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Catherine Wyman, her brother Nathaniel O. Wyman, and her dear friend David Haynes. Left to carry on her memory are her siblings, Elizabeth W. Lucas (William) and Herman S. Wyman (Jacquelynn); her nieces and nephews, Tawanda Bunn (Rodney), Major Terrence O. Benn, Deputy Chief of Police (Vincent), Christopher Newkirk, and Ashanti Newkirk; along with many cousins and a wide circle of friends who became like family.
Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion. Her memory will always be held close by those lucky enough to have known her.
A Memorial Service to remember Gloria will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at Altmeyer Funeral Home- Southside Chapel.
