Vernon Winston Adkins was born on September 26, 1936, to the late Alton and Anna Adkins in Charles City, Virginia.
He departed this life on March 16, 2025. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Eugenia Adkins; sisters, Alice Miles, and Martha Charity; and brother, Thomas Adkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Michelle Adkins; daughters, Verna Brown (Michael), Vernelle Robinson (Lonnie), Veronica Marrow (Bruce), and Tia Norris; sons, Stephen Jones, and Mardell Norris; five grandchildren; nieces; nephews; his sister, Loretta Temple, and brother, Alton Adkins Jr. He
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so He put His arms around you
and whispered, “Come to Me.”
A golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
Take him in your arms dear Lord.
Treasure him with care.
Make up for all he suffered
And all that was unfair.
To some he may be forgotten,
To others just part of the past.
But to the ones who really loved him
His memory will last and last.
