It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lowell Neill Baker Sr. on March 13th, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born on March 18th, 1928, in Keystone, WV, to Lowell and Garnet Baker, Lowell was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Skeen of Myrtle Beach, SC, and his brother, Norman Baker of Las Vegas, NV. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Hall Pugh of Oriental, NC.

Raised and schooled in High Point, NC, Lowell served with honor in the United States Army Occupation Forces in Japan from 1947 to 1948, before returning to the Tidewater area. He dedicated 33 years of his life to Tidewater Music and later worked for 10 years with Southern Amusement.

Lowell is survived by his son, Lowell N. Baker Jr. and his wife, Lisa; step-son, Bruce Yorgey of Virginia Beach; and half-brother, Heath Caldwell, and his wife, Carrol, of Palm Springs, CA.

A longtime member of Atlantic Lodge #2 for over 50 years, Lowell was also a proud member of the Khedive Shriners. His contributions to his community, his family, and his friends will not be forgotten.

A private service will be held to honor Lowell’s life and legacy. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Please make donations in Lowell’s memory to The Shriners Hospital for Children by clicking “HERE”
