Robert Otis Waterfield, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Our Bobby was born in 1941, at home in Warsaw VA. He was the third child of Robert O. Waterfield and Mildred Ann “Tallant” Waterfield. The children were born in abject poverty eating whatever they could find or was given to them by neighbors and extended family.
Bobby’s early school was in Richmond, VA where he was on track for success, as he was smart, good-looking, and sociable. Unfortunately, his life and dreams were cut short at the age of 17 by a life-altering traffic accident which almost killed him. Breaking his body and altering his thought processes.
We are so proud of Bobby, a battered man who procured employment, a lifetime of work as a stock bay at both Farm Fresh and Rich’s Supermarkets, of which we are thankful. Bobby is a near-perfect man who worked his entire life, supported his church, always gave to others, and provided a home for a near-perfect wife, Peggy Lynn Waterfield, who preceded him in death.
Bobby is survived by his brother, James L. Waterfield of Charleston, SC.
A Graveside Service will be held on 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Peninsula Memorial Park.
