Shirley Anne Wilcox, 75, of York County, VA. died on Sunday, February 2, 2025 after a short illness.
She was born in Michigan to the late Laurence L. and Virginia Wilcox. Her family moved to Hampton, where Shirley spent her childhood, graduating from Hampton High School in 1968.
After graduation, Shirley started work with the Federal Government as a relocation expert with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, then in similar positions with the U.S. Army Finance Center, Heidelberg, Germany and retired from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 1997.
Following retirement, Shirley returned to the Peninsula, last residing in the Grafton area of York County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Randall Fred Wilcox; and her nephew, Randall Fred Wilcox, Jr. She is survived by her sisters, Gloria W. Arehart (Bob) and Sharon K. Carpenter (Tom); her niece, Melissa Arehart and nephews, Corey Arehart (Lindsey) and Haden Corbin.
Shirley was a loving, kind and generous sister, aunt, friend, neighbor and a passionate dog lover and owner. Rusty, Lucky, Kris, and Jack will greet her, tails wagging.
At Shirley’s request, Services will be Private.
