James Magill, Jr., born November 11, 1932 in Lynn, Massachusetts, entered peacefully into eternal rest on February 4, 2025.
He is predeceased by his loving parents, James Magill and Helen Froberger Magill, and his brother Richard James Magill.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Shirley Magill, his nieces Amy Gonzales and Karen McLaurin, and nephews Richard Magill and Michael Magill.
James graduated from Boston College with a degree in economics. He made his career serving in both the US Army and the US Navy, followed by employment in the Department of Defense’s National Security Agency. Upon retirement, he moved to Williamsburg, VA, and spent his next 20+ years doing what he loved most – passionately working and volunteering at Colonial Williamsburg’s Apothecary Shop and Historic Jamestown’s Governor’s Mansion.
Due to declining health, he moved to Charleston, SC in 2018 to be close to family, but his true home was always Williamsburg.
He was an active parishioner at St. Bede Catholic Church and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was especially fond of his daily visits to The Coffeeshop and Brusters Ice Cream Shop.
James led a very full life of work, service to his community and to his Church, and following his many personal interests. May his beautiful soul rest in peace!
