John C. Tayborn, 43, of Hampton

John C. Taybron, “JC,” as he was affectionately called, entered eternal rest on February 1, 2025. He was born to Carolyn Evans and the late Jimmy Taybron in Hampton, VA, on July 8, 1981.

At an early age, he accepted Christ, was baptized, and joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. William Byrd. Dr. Ronald Ellis later became his pastor. He was an active member of the youth department and sang with the male chorus until his health declined and he could no longer attend regularly. He enjoyed working with the kids, which included sometimes driving the van for KBS and helping with whatever was needed for the youth.

JC attended York County and Williamsburg\James City County Public Schools where he graduated from Jamestown High School in 2001. He was active in JV football. He loved sports, and the Green Bay Packers were his favorite team. He worked in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s warehouse. When not working, he would always show up to events for family and friends, especially for his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased in death by his grandfather, John Joyner Sr., and his siblings; grandmother, Louise Joyner and six of her siblings; father, Jimmy Taybron and nine of his siblings and their parents; brother, Terry Santiful; aunt, Frances Jones; and godson, Christian Higgs.

He leaves to cherish his memory with his mother, Carolyn Evans; sister, Jeanette Taybron; stepsons, Lee Jones and Anthony Jones; nieces and nephews, Kendra, Keniya, Nasir, Kingston, Kaydance, and Amaia; god-nieces and god-nephews, Terrell, Mikingh, Phenix, and Maurice; great-aunts, Marie Pierce and Maxine Williams; god-moms, Doreen Bartlett, Miranda Sadler, Stephanie Thomas, and Hope Bailey; god-aunts, Cynthia Kelly and Mildred Linton; godsisters, Janea Osborne and Chenaye Lewis; godbrothers, Alastair Higgs and Micheal Palmer; close friends, Derrick Crawford, Gary Welsh, Elder Andre Brooks, and Alaijah Burrell; and a host of other loving family and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Tayborn may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday in the church.
