David Rinck of Newport News

David Rinck (Amory Funeral Home)

David Rinck received the call on November 20 to meet his Lord and rejoin family he hasn’t seen in a very long time.

The Rinck siblings – Larry, Shirley, Ralph & David are together for a heavenly family reunion with their parents William & Gayla. We like to think they are spending their time eating authentic German meals, fishing on a calm lake and playing a ruckus card game they like to call WhoopAss.

David’s childhood and early adult years were blissfully spent in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was there he developed his love of food and football – La Rosa pizza, double butter cakes, Cincinnati chili and his beloved Bengals. Upon leaving Ohio he moved to Yorktown where he and his bride made their home and started their family. He worked for 26 years at Newport News Shipbuilding – he split his time there equally between his career in human resources and his favorite pastime of playing practical jokes. After retiring he didn’t stay idle for long. He soon joined Enterprise Rental Car and greatly enjoyed driving different cars and meeting different people – a new audience to recycle his shady jokes.

He leaves behind his beautiful wife & best friend, Jean and his three children Jennifer (husband Jim), Matt (wife Angie) & Will (wife Kristi). The Rinck family joyfully continued to expand with his grandchildren – Blake, Tyler, Sydney, Kelly, Baylor, Tristan & Tori along with his great-grandchildren – Sophia1, Sophia2, Amelia and Crew.

Diagnosed with Cardiac Amyloidosis he participated in two drug studies coordinated by Boston University Medical Center where doctors created a new drug that will save many lives. Despite suffering a rare heart condition, esophageal cancer, COPD and a slew of other life altering diseases he was never without a witty retort for his attending nurses and doctors. We all take comfort knowing his spirit is released from his worn shell of a body and is exploring the heavenly universe.

We hope you carry fond memories of David and we invite you to join us in celebrating his well-lived life. A Mass of the Resurrection will be observed on Wednesday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church – 3800 Big Bethel Road in Yorktown.
